At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above. In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.
Registration or licensing may be required.

Tasks:

  • Conducting laboratory and field tests of soils and construction materials and data collection for traffic surveys.
  • Inspecting civil  works, and supervising and organising repair and maintenance work.
  • Collecting and analysing data and carrying out computations.
  • Guaranteeing the finished works confirms to the provisions, regulations and guidelines of the contract and thus estimating the total cost.
  • Directing and performing laboratory test and fieldwork. 
  • Preparing charts, sketches, tabulations, designs and plans for civil works such as water supply, drainage, dams, airports, roads, sewage reticulation systems and other structures. 
  • Interpreting work assignment instructions, applying appropriate procedures and selecting equipment.
