ANZSCO Codes for Competency Demonstration
ANZSCO stands for Australia and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupation. ANZSCO codes classify all the occupations in Australia according to ABS Methodology. Each occupation on ANZSCO Code has a identification number by which the occupation is identified. Each skill has got a particular skill level, assessing body or authority and the visas in which you can apply if you fall in this category. To make a plan, you must find out whether the occupation is listed under short term skill list or long term skill list. You must proceed for a proper ANZSCO occupation after knowing which ANZSCO occupation you qualify for according to ANZSCO code.
All the occupations in Australia and New Zealand are divided into Eight Major Groups. They are named as Managers, Professionals, Technicians and Trades Workers, Community and Personal Service Workers, Clerical and Administrative Workers, Sales Workers, Machinery Operators and Drivers and Labourers.
ANZSCO Code structure has five hierarchical levels. They are Major Group, Sub-Major group, Minor Group, Unit group and Occupation. Occupation is the most detailed classification. Occupations are grouped to form a Unit group. Unit group are grouped to form a minor group, which when grouped together will form the Sub-Major Group. Multiple sub-major groups form a Major Group.
